What’ s Happening
• Renown Health will be entering our health insurance plan, Hometown Health, into a joint venture with Kaiser Permanente. Pending regulatory approval, the joint venture, called Kaiser Permanente Nevada, plans to offer health plan coverage to employers and the people of northern Nevada starting with open enrollment in 2026 for plan year 2027.
• New entity: Kaiser Permanente Nevada( pending regulatory approval in 2026).
• Health plan coverage begins with open enrollment in 2026 for the 2027 plan year.
What This Means for Providers
• No immediate changes to contracts, networks or daily operations.
• Existing Hometown Health / Senior Care Plus relationships remain in place.
• Expect future opportunities for collaboration, patient referrals and shared care models.
Why It Matters
• For some time, Hometown Health / Senior Care Plus members, customers, physicians, brokers and employees have been asking for better access to high-quality, affordable care, greater national coverage and an expanded provider network and services that would be offered across the state and nation.
• Expands access to affordable, high-quality coverage statewide and nationally.
• Strengthens not-for-profit health care in northern Nevada.
• Supports value-based care with proven outcomes( 20 % lower cancer mortality, 33 % lower heart disease mortality for Kaiser Permanente members).
Continuity
• Renown Health remains independent, continues accepting all insurance plans.
