Laying Down The Law

Cafeteria Style

By: Katherine

Do we really have enough freedom in the cafeteria? Many schools have assigned arrangements of how we sit. Is this necessary for intermediate schools? This is an effect and impact on how we behave. What are these effects and impacts on us as intermediate kids?

Well one reason is as we get older we have more to say! Socialization is important. Students shouldn't have to hold their feelings in all day. The more included we are the more satisfaction we have. This can affect group work so kids get along more efficiently. This is also a good time to spread important, considerate, or helpful information just like schedules and due dates. Socialization is not the only thing we need though.

Also , when the day drags on you may do stupid things that get you in trouble! Mostly by boredom this is caused, and so casual it is now days. This not a fun time to be forced to work and learn with thoughts wandering. Without being able to sit and then proceed to talk to friends in a easy manner it is all “aboard” the boredom train. Crash... it wrecks with feelings like anger and sadness leaking out of every crack there is to be. This lets so much in, but it doesn’t come out then the next train arrives. The “Hyper Train” pulls in for another wreck, but once again trouble is your nightmare. We can stop this by having the chance to be by our friends we control it. Intermediate students are old enough to know how to act and behave, but they restrict us from that great honor of maturity. So why are we not trusted right away? We as intermediate kids are restricted and the worst of those train wrecks takes over what we can do as a whole school. Sadly, this has never come to mind in all of the misunderstandings.

On the other hand opposites attract so they say. Well in most cafeteria’s it is true, we will get in trouble for sitting in wrong place or trying to. If we sat where we wanted we wouldn’t talk in class. What is the point in trying to sit by friends if you can’t get to them. This is horribly wrong to some! Furthermore, others think it controls attitude and well use of freedom. Well as intermediate students we know there is freedom for a reason. We also know exactly how to control it, but some choose not so they say against all instead of the few! If they think this right away no wonder we don’t even get a first chance. They don’t trust us right away ,but how much of their control is too much. Have they thought about us instead of a whole school or one child over seeing what they think? Hopefully they will!

In conclusion, I respect sixth graders or any intermediate students freedom. We have control and should not be forced upon these problems. We as intermediate pupils in learning are smart and try to work things like this out. When it comes to us we are open and free flowing , but when comes to these three reasons we should not be held back! The cafeteria rules are wrongly taking all of our honor and privileges away!

Here students are free to sit were ever they want! Why not at others?

This is still organized even with students choosing!
