Loathsome
Lunches

Fun Facts
1) Kids are bringing their complaints to social media by using #thanksmichelleobama and posting pictures of the disgusting food.
2) The posts have been saying “prisoners eat better food” and the pictures do show it.
3) Research has shown that kids that bring their lunch are healthier than kids who eat the school food.
Here is a video to show how kids really feel about school lunches
QUOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
Kids complain everyday that they are hungry after school, but that is because no one in there right minds eat the school food.
Deep in the lunchroom there lurks cold, smelly, and atrocious food. At the La Grange Intermediate/Hermes cafeteria there are major food problems. Kids complain everyday that they are hungry after school, but that is because no one in their right minds eat the school food. When parents come to visit their kids at lunch time they are disgusted by the cafeteria food. Problems need to be fixed. Everyone says that you should stand for what you believe in and fix problems and the school food is a big one.
One example, of why the food needs to change is because it has no flavor what-so-ever. The potatoes are the most flavorless thing I have ever had in my life. They need to add spices to the food. I don’t think that there is any salt or pepper. The thing about the potatoes is that you have to get gravy if you want the tiniest bit of flavor for your potatoes! The lunch ladies need to add spices to our food.
Also, the lunch ladies need to make more food. One day we were in line for pizza and they ran out. It was about five minutes for us to get it. When we sat down to eat our pizza, it was cold in the middle. Three girls didn’t eat anything until lunch was over. We got our warm pizza at the same time that the three girls did, after lunch. Another day when we when it was lunch time a lot of people had to get sandwiches because they had ran out of the purple and gold line food.
Lastly, in our lunchroom we need to be able to have more choices. The high school and middle school have exactly five different choices every single day. It isn’t fair that we have only three choices and they have five. Some days when we eat turkey and gravy and they are having turkey sandwiches and salads I only will eat a snack and maybe an apple. If the lunchroom allows us more choices maybe kids will finally eat their food. For some kids the lunch food is their last meal before they go home. I don’t know about you but if that were me then I would want that meal to be good or at least edible.
Our lunchroom needs some major changes being made to it. Our food needs to have texture and flavor. In our lunchroom the staff needs to produce more of our main dishes. Students need to be offered more options for our food. The food has to be changed and I hope that change can happen very soon. Would you want to eat cubed turkey and gloppy gravy?
