making time to run an edible Etsy shop, as well as, taking orders
for local specialty desserts. Abby says that on a whim, she decided
to apply to have a booth at the Perrysburg Farmers Market, even

These ladies are more than just bakers, they are extremely smart,
driven and creative women who LOVE sharing their passions with
the people of Perrysburg. The ladies’ stories are unique, yet similar
in that each woman had to believe in themselves and hustle their
cinnabuns off to be what they are today...entrepreneurs, business
owners, bakers and the three Sweetest Ladies of Perrysburg.
Our resident cookie connoisseur, Brittany, learned the key to
her cookie career as a kid, but wouldn’t realize it until she had
kids of her own. When she was young, she said she would
bake cutout cookies. As Brittany grew older, went to college,
and married, she brought the sugar cookie recipe along.
Let’s start at the beginning…
Erin started working at the Toledo Zoo as a caterer when she was
15 years old. After six years of working in the catering department,
Erin applied for the Head Baker position, even though she had zero
baking experience. She bet on herself and what she could offer the
position and she won. She secured the job and then had to learn
how to bake. She taught herself skills from watching YouTube videos
and practicing, practicing, practicing all while going to college.
After several more years at the Toledo Zoo and working at Easton’s
Bakery for a bit, she decided it was time to branch out and she
took over 7 Little Cupcakes and made it her own successful bakery.
When Abby was younger, her mother was a home baker, but
Abby never thought that was going to be her future. She never
baked, but did help decorate or put the final touches on cakes
and other dessert orders. As an adult, she tried working in other
fields. Applied Science is her educational background and has even
worked for the Pepsi Corporation. However, bringing in cakes
for work events or sharing her goodies with friends eventually led
to actual orders and her desire to open an Etsy shop selling her
As a stay at home mom to young children, Brittany wanted to make
birthday parties and holidays special for the kiddos. A do-it-yourself
perfectionist on a budget, she knew she would need to step up her
baking and decorating to give the kids "picture perfect memories".
Using that childhood recipe, modifying it a bit, and perfecting
her baking skills for those special moments is how Brittany
unknowingly started Lemon Sprinkle Cookie Company.
Once her son started school, Brittany would give beautifully
decorated sugar cookies to his teachers as gifts and send them
in for class parties. Her husband, Austin, would also share them
with his co-workers. Like Abby, Brittany began receiving requests
from co-workers, teachers, and friends who loved the cookies and
wanted to purchase them. One day, Austin joked about opening
a cookie business in a Facebook post. The comments were sincere
and positive and Lemon Sprinkle Cookie Company was born.
Bakeries, desserteries and cookie companies are not businesses
that run on traditional Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 hours.
