Cultural events are also part of the wide range of things to do that develop in the first quarter of the new year( January to March) and coincide with the season where large numbers of tourists from various nations of the world are launched in a trip that aims to meet other countries, in this case Panama, to contemplate the beauties and attractions of the isthmus, as well as participate in outdoor activities of a musical nature, especially in the capital.

One of the genres that attract the attention of thousands of people in the summer, who delight in the notes masterfully performed by great professionals, is jazz, which has gradually gained its place in the preference of the public.
That is why a team led by the renowned Panamanian pianist Danilo Cholo Pérez and his wife, Patricia Zárate, through the foundation that bears the name of this artist, winner of the Grammy Award, is responsible for the coordination and organization of the yearly versions of the Panama Jazz Festival, considered one of the most important musical events of the Republic of Panama, and which remains one of the most visited by people of all ages.
The first version of the festival took place in 2003, when the centenary of the republic, now a sovereign and independent nation, was also commemorated in November.
For 2017, the musical notes will be repainted on the pentagram and so will marvel those who attend from January 10 to 14 to another new version of this feast for the senses, which will be dedicated to the figure of Violeta Green, outstanding musician from Colon.
Concerts, symposiums, music clinics, jam sessions and auditions will be part of the broad program that will offer attendees of the XIV appointment with jazz music.
The concerts will be held during the five days of the festival and will start on January 10 from 1 p. m. in popular venues such as the City of Knowledge, located in the sector of Clayton, in addition to Danilo‘ S Jazz Club, located in Casco Antiguo.
The closing of the festival will be on Saturday the 14th at 3 p. m. in the quadrangle of the City of Knowledge.
