SR: Today, the Leaders, supervisors & managers in an organization want their employees to be highly productive with the given set of resources. Tight performance matrices do not leave them with any creative hour for thinking. TB: Mind Mapping is useful in the modern business world, which is increasingly adopting the positive aproach of thinking, creatiity and service. In business, Mind Maps are being used for project planning, brainstorming, creative thinking, knowledge management, speech preparation, presentation, strategic thinking, negotiation, continuing personal development, meeting preparation, all forms of learning and problem solving. Indeed Bill Gates, in NewsWeek feature, stated, “Mind Maps were ‘the road ahead’– taking our information democracy to the next level.” TB: By the way, you know, you can also discover techniques for interview planning and preparation for it through an interview Mind Map? SR: Is it so? I would like to hear more about it. TB: If you are preparing for an interview, Mind Map will help you to plan ahead for it. The Mind Map breaks down areas to consider and contemplate, such as company research, outlining the abilities and experience, interests and hobbies. You can infact include some preparatory and grooming tips in your mind map. You know, the Mind Map is such a thinking tool which helps you get an insight about the thought processes of the human brain. When human thinking is externalized in its pure form, this becomes a Mind Map and is a note that refl ects the brain’s own thinking processes. In the Fortune 500 companies, an increasing number of individuals are using this technique for all loads of purposes. SR: Is Mind Mapping particularly popular within certain regions or cultures? TB: Yes, I would say so too, but do not mistake it as a culture bias technique. It is surely a standardised method created for global use. Mind Mapping is more of an attitudinal type of tool, popular in companies or countries which are cutting edge, are focusing much of their resources on learning and thinking skills and which have realized the signifi cance of creative thinking and innovation in gaining a competitive edge in the modern world. These companies and countries include Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HSBC, Con Edison, Reckitt Benckiser, and Hewlett Packard etc. Among countries- China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Australia, Germany, England, Scotland, Mexico and the United States of America are more actively engaging themselves with Mind Mapping.
