SR: How can Mind Mapping help in the world of business? Can you provide us with a specifi c example?
SR: Today, the Leaders, supervisors & managers in an organization want their employees to be highly productive
with the given set of resources. Tight performance matrices do not leave them with any creative hour for thinking.
TB: Mind Mapping is useful in the modern business world, which is increasingly adopting the positive aproach
of thinking, creatiity and service. In business, Mind Maps are being used for project planning, brainstorming,
creative thinking, knowledge management, speech preparation, presentation, strategic thinking, negotiation,
continuing personal development, meeting preparation, all forms of learning and problem solving.
Indeed Bill Gates, in NewsWeek feature, stated, “Mind Maps were ‘the road ahead’– taking our information
democracy to the next level.”
TB: By the way, you know, you can also discover
techniques for interview planning and preparation
for it through an interview Mind Map?
SR: Is it so? I would like to hear more about it.
TB: If you are preparing for an interview, Mind Map
will help you to plan ahead for it. The Mind Map
breaks down areas to consider and contemplate,
such as company research, outlining the abilities
and experience, interests and hobbies. You can
infact include some preparatory and grooming tips
in your mind map.
You know, the Mind Map is such a thinking tool
which helps you get an insight about the thought
processes of the human brain. When human
thinking is externalized in its pure form, this
becomes a Mind Map and is a note that refl ects the
brain’s own thinking processes. In the Fortune 500
companies, an increasing number of individuals
are using this technique for all loads of purposes.
SR: Is Mind Mapping particularly popular within
certain regions or cultures?
TB: Yes, I would say so too, but do not mistake it as
a culture bias technique. It is surely a standardised
method created for global use. Mind Mapping is
more of an attitudinal type of tool, popular in
companies or countries which are cutting edge,
are focusing much of their resources on learning
and thinking skills and which have realized the
signifi cance of creative thinking and innovation
in gaining a competitive edge in the modern world.
These companies and countries include Microsoft,
IBM, Oracle, HSBC, Con Edison, Reckitt Benckiser,
and Hewlett Packard etc.
Among countries- China, Japan, Singapore,
Malaysia, Korea, Australia, Germany, England,
Scotland, Mexico and the United States of America
are more actively engaging themselves with Mind
Mapping.
