INTERVIEW
SR: I would like to quote your words “Mental literacy”,
Can you please explain a bit further?
TB: Mental literacy refers to the knowledge of the
brain’s physical and mental function and to the
application of this knowledge to all aspects of life. Put
it another way, mental literacy refers to, having the
“correct formulae”, or the proper operations manual for
the brain. Historically, we have not known the correct
formulas and have gone down many brain cul-de-sacs
and wrong turnings.
One simple and recent example is the usage of lined
paper for linear verbal note taking, as a main method
for enhancing learning and memory. Because the brain
is based on imagination and association, this method is
diametrically opposed to what the brain needs. Being
diametrically opposed, it creates many of the learning
problems and diffi culties that virtually all students
experience today.
This year Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi
praised the effi cacy of Mind Mapping on “Pariksha pe
charcha”.
SR: You have achieved the status of
‘Guru’, a title accorded to very few. You
have worked with people from various
fi elds such as corporates, business fi rms,
academics, olympics athletes, government
and even children of varying ages. You have
contributed to their growth by teaching
them how to maximise the power & potential
of their brain. Incase if our readers get curious to
know more about you, where can they fi nd it?
TB: My name is included in Who’s Who book, which
is a source of biographical data on more than 33,000
influential people around the world. Published
annually since 1849, in its 168th edition that is of the
year 2015, a list of people who infl uence British lives,
according to its editors, published entries include
judges, civil servants, politicians and notable fi gures
from academia, sport and arts. If someone wants to
know actually about me; Buzan Anthony Peter, i.e.
Tony Buzan can be looked for on the internet.
Inclusion in Who’s Who, has always been perceived
as prominence in public life or professional
achievement. My name in it has therefore come
to carry a considerable level of prestige, and I feel
proud about it, you can see my life history when
you read that print.
SR: You are the inventor of Mind Maps®, the most
powerful ‘Thinking Tool’ of our times. How have
you mapped your short-term goal?
I am glad that he also recommends Mind maps in his
book Exam Warriors, which is an inspiring book for
the youth. It is written in a fun and interactive style,
with illustrations, activities and yoga exercises. This
book will be a friend not only in acing exams, but also
in facing life.
Non-preachy, practical and thought-provoking, Exam
Warriors is a handy guide for students in India and
across the world.

TB: I mapped my goal this year to embrace, shape
& nurture the 5 books I am writing which shall
be published in Jan, March, April & June & this
autumn. Today I am launching Mind Mapping For
Mindfulness, followed by a private exhibition. Today
I am going to talk about this book before a large
audience, of at least a thousand people.
I shall launch another book Volume of Poetry,
100 pages long, one big poem called All
Philosophy Problem next month. It is about
choosing think or not to think, to be or not to
be. To read it not to read, all depends on you
(chuckles). This poem is on nature. I feel that
very few people think that they are thinking,
but they are actually not!
