The Pittsburgh Business Group on Health is a health organization devoted to bringing health resources, health focus, and client satisfaction to its members. With over 100 site members in the Greater Pittsburgh Area, PBGH uses its vast range of clients to perfect a vast range of expertise. With the overall goal of advocating employers to incorporate the proper health care for their mployees and find maximum benefits for their members, PBGH is home to a dynamic workforce, constantly changing the way service is best delivered with the ever-changing health care climate.
What is PBGH?
The Pittsburgh Business Group on Health (PBGH) is an employer-led, non-profit coalition of organizations representing various business segments including private and public employers, government and education.
Representing over 90 organizations, PBGH offers

*Employee engagement programs, supporting employers' health and wellness efforts
*Networking, benchmarking and education opportunities
*Health care and benefit analyses and other industry information
Through our various initiatives and programs, PBGH strives to improve the cost, delivery, and value of health care and offers member only and community forums for the exchange of ideas and viewpoints. Our health care and consultant associate members provide health care resources and support to PBGH and our employer members and also assist in developing collaboration opportunities to find solutions to the health care issues facing employers. Advocating value and innovation in health care and benefits,PBGH unites the voice of business on the critical issues facing employers and their employees and provides the platform to influence the future of health care and benefits.

My PBGH Experience
As an intern at the Pittsburgh Business Group on Health (PBGH) I have had the opportunity to receive a behind-the-scenes look at the hard work that goes into creating the best possible health care strategies for group members.
In the past six months I have followed PBGH to seminars on how to calculate health care costs as an employer, how to organize and categorize absence management in a streamlined system, how to choose the correct health plan in Pittsburgh, and how can our members work together and with PBGH to make it the optimum business group of health in the country. And this is at an intern level!
Working with this expert organization, I have seen, for the first time outside of academia, a community of individuals that truly want the best for its members. As a non-profit organization, PBGH is a company strictly to suppport other companies. By drawing in employers from the Greater Pittsburgh Area, PBGH has created a community of health-oriented, health-promoting companies that have an impact on Pittsburgh that is priceless, health.
I will be sad to see the day my internship does end. I could stay here for years studying the interworkings of PBGH and still find new ventures and experiences. Dealing with a dynamic environment means that PBGH needs to be two steps ahead of healthcare at all times. Perhaps they have a psychic on staff, for they always meet this mark.
