James sighs and says with a soft voice.“ My soul is trapped here, remember? I can’ t go beyond the gates of the haunted forest. I physically can’ t leave; it’ s like a force field trapping me in.” James walked up to the gates and held his hand out. A glowing, blue force field formed under his hands and didn’ t let his hand go any further no matter how hard he tried to push through. He walked back with a frown and a tear steaming down his transparent face. She was sure she could see the tear on the other side of him. He stood there with his head down, waiting for Allie to respond.
Allie sighed in sympathy and walked up to him.“ Well, is there anyway you can get out?” She asked. His face lit up and he looked like he was gonna explode like he was a grenade or something.“ Yes! Yes, there is, and you can help me!” He says.“ I’ ve been trapped her for hundreds of years and nobody ever comes in here. But you’ re here! And you can get me out!”“ Tell me how! You helped me so it’ s time I repay the favor!” says Allie, grinning. James smiled and told Allie what she had to do.“ The only way to break my force field is to dump special water from a special stream on it. Listen carefully. You have to go the enchanted forest a few miles from here, find the stream, and get a gallon of water from it. Then bring it back here, and I’ ll be free!” He smiled.
“ I have to do this.” Said Allie, and she left out the gates. She traveled for miles to get to the enchanted forest and when she got there, she noticed a gnome standing at the gate. He was made of stone and had a long, lilac beard and a red hat. He wore a dark blue shirt and held a golden staff. He looked like he patrolled the gates of the forest. Allie jolted back and gasped as he turned his head to look at her.“ What do you want?” He asked, growling. Allie started to sweat but answered as calm as she could. She stood up tall and said“ I need to get in that forest. So could you please let me enter through the gates you’ re guarding?”“ No.” said the gnome in an awfully grumpy tone. He then looked away like Allie didn’ t exist.
Allie was kinda shocked how apathetic and rude this little gnome was. His nasty tone set a whole new mood.“ Well, that’ s too bad, I’ m on a mission.” She ran at the gnome and picked him up and dragged him across the street.“ Have fun catching me now!” The gnome stood their helplessly, only being able to move his head around.“ Hey! Get back here!” He called out, frantically. Allie just pushed through the gates and ran into the forest. A smile formed on her face, and she didn’ t look back. She liked this new found confidence. The adrenaline pumped through her veins as she ran faster and faster into the forest. She just couldn’ t wait to help James after he helped her.
She ran as fast as she could until she almost ran into a small cottage. It was made of birch wood, and the roof was covered in moss and ivy that dangled from the roof and attached to the sides. There was a small brown window with foggy glass and a little wooden door. Her curiosity got the best of her, so she opened the door. The door creaked open as she dragged it across the floor, the handle was rusty and seemed to be made of brass. It was cold to the touch. She peered inside the cottage. It was dark and eerie. She lowered her head to fit inside the door and went inside. Looking around she didn’ t see much but old, broken, wooden furniture that looked like it hadn’ t been touched in decades. Spider webs hung low and the dust lingering in the air was heavy and weighed down on her lungs. Allie saw a a spider in one of the webs and gasped, almost falling backwards.
She saw a small wooden box in the corner and walked up to it. She blew the thick layer of dust off and wiped it with her palm before opening it. As she opened it, dust exploded in her face. She brushed of her face in disgust and looked inside the box.“ What’ s inside here?”
