After being out for an hour, she opened her eyes to see the ghost standing over her. She screamed and tried to run but he screamed for her to wait this time. So, she did. As terrified as she was, she did, she didn’ t really have a reason why. Noticing her pause the ghost immediately started talking before she changed her mind and ran away again“ Hey. I know you’ re scared, but don’ t be. Im a nice ghost! If that even seems possible, but I am.” Allie backed away slowly on her hands and feet as James floated up to her as slow as a snail.“ You probably saw my tombstone but if not, my names James, and I died here, in this forest.” Allie squirmed and let out a small gasp. Alerted of her fears, James started up again“ Woah, I didn’ t mean to scare you. I’ m sorry, I’ m just not so good at making conversation considering my soul is trapped her for eternity …” he paused and his eyes widened after realizing what he said.“ And I guess that’ s not helping you be less afraid either.” He says.
“ You might be wondering how you got here, so I’ ll tell you.” Intrigued, Allie stopped gradually scooting away and stayed put to let him reveal the truth.“ You see, I noticed you lying in the floor just outside the forest. I figured you passed out and must’ ve hit your head, so I dragged you in by your foot.” Allie furrowed her eyebrow.“ When I got you all the way inside, I picked you up and brought you a little deeper into the forest and went back to my tomb to sleep while you were passed out. I don’ t know if you noticed but when I was carrying you, you actually woke up for a second! Sorry, I talk a lot when I meet new people because it hasn’ t happened in like 100 years!”“ I have a question,” he says.“ Do you happen to know the date?”
Allie just stood there in shock. There was so much to take in it felt impossible.“ It’ s October 31st, 2024.” She said, shaking. She felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest and explode like a volcano erupting after resting for thousands of years.“ Ooh Halloween! That explains the costume.” He spoke.“ I’ ve been dead for 188 years. That’ s crazy...” he says to himself. He looks at Allie, still shaking.“ Why did you bring me here? Are you trying to lead to devil to me so he can steal my soul too?!” She said, trembling with fear and a little anger too. She was shaking so hard her words came out like walking in the rickety bridge at the playground when you were 7 or like a ship being tossed up and down with the consuming waves during a storm. James eyes widened and he looked almost sorry for her before saying“ What? Of course not! I would never do that, I promise.” James held out his hands with his pinky out, waiting for Allie to finish the pinky promise.
She took a step forward and finished the promise. She took a step back and nodded her head.“ The reason I brought you in here was to help you, I didn’ t know if you got a concussion or worse!” James added, his face was practically pleading with Allie to forgive him.“ You were trying to save me?” She asked, James nodded and turned around.“ Ok” James said,“ let’ s get you out of here.”“ Yes please.” Said Allie, smiling in relief. James and Allie ran through the forest until James started flying like a hawk with Allie in hand.“ Woah!” Said Allie as they floated up into the atmosphere above. She breathed in the cool air of the night, and it felt like her lungs were freezing as she inhaled. The touch of the small raindrops hit her face like darts. She let go of the tense in her arms and legs and let herself float in the night sky with James still in hand. Then, he dropped down at the gate of the forest.“ Thank you so much!” Said Allie with a smile on her face. James smiled back and waved as she walked towards the gates. She whipped around.“ Why aren’ t you coming too?” She asked James.
