PHSC President Emeritus , Timothy Beard , Ph . D ., Appointed Interim President at Florida A & M University
Florida A & M University ( FAMU ) Board of Trustees voted in July to accept former president Larry Robinson ’ s resignation and appoint PHSC President Emeritus , Timothy Beard , Ph . D ., as interim president while they complete their search for FAMU ’ s 13th president .

PHSC ’ s State-of-the-Art Fire Training Tower
During the presidency of Timothy L . Beard , Ph . D ., PHSC ’ s fourth president , the College collaborated with Pasco County Fire Rescue to work on the construction of the PHSC Fire Training Tower and the Fire Academy Training Center . PHSC ’ s Fire Academy trains and educates future fire service personnel . Our experienced instructors and facilitators from various local agencies use current and trending instruction to optimize classroom and handson training . The minimum standards for completing the Firefighter certification are 492 hours of mandated state curriculum . The state-of-the-art facility will be equipped with classrooms and the Fire Training Tower to help prepare PHSC fire students to pass the state-administered practical and written exams . Once all requirements are met , students can start their professional journey to seek employment throughout Florida . Once employed , students will have the opportunity to return to PHSC and participate in professional development classes to enhance their skills , which will benefit the community they serve . The tower is located at the PHSC East Campus in Dade City . PHSC hosted the tower ’ s grand opening event in November of 2024 .
