Krista Knowles ’ Path to Uncovering Her Potential at PHSC
her remaining credits to PHSC . As a mother of two sons , her eldest son was one of the key motivators that encouraged her to finish her education . When weighing college options , Krista decided to continue her studies at PHSC due to its vibrant campus life and conveniently located campuses .
At PHSC , students come from diverse backgrounds and upbringings , representing all walks of life . As the new student representative on PHSC ’ s District Board of Trustees , Krista reflects on her academic journey at PHSC and how her involvement in Student Life and Leadership led her to strive for excellence .
Born in California , Krista grew up in Citrus County , Florida . After graduating high school , Krista attended Santa Fe College in Gainesville , where she completed half of her associate in arts degree . Ultimately , she took a leave of absence to raise her son for nearly 14 years . In the fall of 2022 , Krista decided to continue her education and transfer
Her involvement in student life opened many doors , allowing her to network with others through various organizations . Currently , Krista is the vice president of the Student Government Association at North Campus and the treasurer of PHSC ’ s Future Business Leaders of America ( FBLA ) chapter . In addition to being an active FBLA Collegiate member , she was chosen to represent the College as a Parliamentarian at the state level for the 2024-2025 academic year . Beyond her student life involvement , Krista is grateful for professors who left an everlasting impact on her like Misty Price , Ph . D ., accounting professor . Price introduced Krista to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance ( VITA ) program , where she conducted tax preparations for community members . Her experience in the program is the reason why Krista envisioned herself pursuing a profession in accounting or finance . She discovered her passion for working with numbers , improving the community , and most importantly , helping others .
With supportive professors and a determination to complete her degree , Krista graduated with her Associate in Arts degree in December of 2023 . Her next academic goal is a bachelor ’ s degree in supervision and management at PHSC , which she hopes to finish in the summer of 2025 . As she enters the next phase of her academic career , she appreciates the support from professors and like-minded peers in student life over the past two years . Krista ’ s story shows that her unwavering perseverance to complete her degree has unveiled many opportunities she never knew existed .
