Athletics Update

Baseball

The men’ s baseball team has pushed through the regular season, jumping 21 spots to sit number one nationally in the NJCAA DII rankings for multiple weeks in a row. For the fourth year in a row, the team has won the Sun-Lakes Conference championship title.
Right-hand pitcher, # 27 Michael Saverese has been a standout performer, having been awarded seven FCSAA DII Pitcher of the Week honors throughout the season. # 30 Gavin Zassenbreaker and # 20 Riley Fisher both earned FCSAA DII Pitcher of the Week honors as well.

Basketball

The men’ s basketball team opened their season with a winning home game against Ave Maria University JV. The season following was a back-and-forth battle, with # 5 Power Forward Nick Pouliot emerging as a key player, leading the team. Despite the team’ s season-ending loss, they showed significant growth, earning 11 wins throughout the campaign.
Outfielder, # 7 Clay Thompson broke the PHSC all-time stolen base record with 54 stolen bases during the season, a record previously held by Jermaine White with 42 bases in 2019. Savarese broke the singleseason wins record with 13 wins and the single-season strikeout record with 126 strikeouts.

Cross Country

The women’ s cross country team had an outstanding season, beginning with a strong performance at the University of Central Florida, where they placed second in the JUCO division. At the NJCAA DII National Championship in Richmond, Virginia, the team entered at rank 10 against 41 colleges and pulled off a finish for seventh place overall.
The men’ s cross country team also had a strong season, placing third at the University of Central Florida JUCO division. At the NJCAA DII National Championship, the men’ s team finished 13 overall. At the end of the season, the men’ s team placed third among DII programs and 18 overall.
