Invests in STEM Programs
and Students
R
ecent state allocations have provided PHSC the opportunity for significant
expansion in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program
offerings. These funds also allowed PHSC to energize STEM Club and
STEM nights, bringing awareness and attention to high-demand STEM field job
prospects for students.
These efforts have developed and expanded student enrollment in PHSC
programs including aviation, engineering, cybersecurity and information
technology. The PHSC Foundation, in response to this growth, is collaborating
with community partners to make STEM education accessible through
scholarships.
The Duke Energy Foundation, for the past three years, is strengthening PHSC’s
STEM programs by providing scholarship funds and secure matching funds for
First Generation in College Student Scholarships at PHSC. Through a two-year
investment of $39,000, Duke Energy has empowered 68 students in careers in
engineering, drafting, welding, accounting, health and science fields.
The PHSC Foundation is extremely grateful for partners
including Duke Energy Foundation who help prepare
students to enter these high demand and living wage
fields. Students interested in a career in STEM, please
contact 727.816.3256, or visit
