children to participate( through a previously established PAT as outlined in the Pre-Referral Process above). For the school’ s convenience, The Light House typically has an on-site presence one day each week throughout the school year.

Standardized Testing

To track our course as a school and to maintain a high academic standard, the school conducts standardized achievement testing for students as well as other less formal tests and measurements conducted within the classroom.
We typically administer standardized tests in the spring for Grades 3-10. High school students are administered the PSATs in their junior year( also optional in their sophomore year) in preparation for the College Board SATs. This test is administered at the school by our guidance counselor. All students are strongly encouraged to sign up for the College Board SATs and the ACT during their junior years, which are administered at various sites around the state.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Church Attendance

The Cornerstone Christian School is not a church and, as such, cannot replace the role of the church in each family’ s life. CCS urges its families to seek regular involvement with Bible-believing churches so that church participation becomes a regular part of the life of every child. The Cornerstone Christian School, as it seeks to unite the goals and convictions of our families and area churches, strongly recommends regular and active church attendance for its families. If you do not already have a church home, you are encouraged to attend Manchester Church of the Nazarene or to connect with another CCS family that attends another local church.

Chapel Services

Chapel is held each week for all students K-12 on Wednesday mornings. To help meet students’ developmental needs and interests, two chapels are provided based on grade level: elementary( K- 5), and middle school and high school( Grades 6-12). Occasionally, combined chapels are held for special occasions or speakers. Weekly chapel services give our students an opportunity to hear guest speakers, as well as to participate in corporate worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our students are challenged in their walk with the Lord when faithful Christians share the reality of what God is doing in their lives. Deuteronomy 6 instructs us to impress upon our children the many accounts of God’ s faithful provision and blessing. It is important that our students see the obedience of others in response to God’ s call on their lives.

Middle and High School Retreats

Each year in the fall, our middle school students participate in a middle school retreat, and our high school students participate in a high school retreat. Fall retreat fees are covered by the Middle School and High School Fees. Similar opportunities are made available each spring.
