ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS
Back-to-School Nights
Just before the first day of school, parents are asked to attend an orientation to the new school year. This time allows parents to meet classroom teachers, look at curricula and schedules, and learn about the upcoming year in general. The dates for these events are published on the school calendar, and details about the events are published in the August back-to-school mailing.
Athletics Program
CCS typically offers a variety of levels of sports teams and clubs. Please see the Athletics Handbook for details. Additionally, residents of Manchester may inquire directly through the Manchester Public Schools about their students’ eligibility to play on sports teams not offered at Cornerstone.
Music Program
Elementary students in Pre-K through Grade 5 take vocal / choral music. Students in Grade 3 learn recorders; students in Grades 4 and 5 are required to learn an instrument to participate in our band program; students in Grades 6-8 are permitted to choose either band or choir. Band and choir are also offered to all high school students for fine arts credit. All K-12 students enrolled in our music program are expected to participate in two music programs each year: a Christmas Concert and a Spring Concert.
Library Program
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 are provided with a weekly time in the elementary library for the purpose of borrowing books. This program is made possible through volunteers who assist the classroom teachers in overseeing the process of students borrowing and returning library books.
Art Program
Art instruction is provided for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5.( Art is also offered to high school students on a rotating basis.) CCS conducts one art show each year that is combined with the annual spring concert. Please see the school calendar for the exact date.
