Lunch / Snacks / Food
1. The child has been on antibiotics for a 24-hour period( when applicable) 2. The child’ s temperature has remained below 100 ° F for 24 hours( without the aid of fever-reducing medications) 3. Vomiting / diarrhea has ceased for 24 hours
Medication
If medication of any type, including over-the-counter( except for Tylenol and Motrin, which can be authorized by parents for certain conditions according to the permission card annually submitted by parents to the school), must be administered to a child during the school day, we require a completed Authorization for Medication form on file from the child’ s physician.( This form may be obtained from the school office.) Indicated on the authorization form will be instructions from the doctor and permission from the parent. Students must never carry or administer their own medications of any kind while on campus unless they have self-carry doctor’ s orders on file with the school nurse.
Student Insurance & Accidents
The Cornerstone Christian School expects parents to use their own medical insurance for any accident occurring during school hours( including drop-off before school begins and during afterschool activities). All accidents( large or small) are to be reported to the school office immediately. If the injured child needs immediate medical attention, he or she is ordinarily taken to the Emergency Room at Manchester Memorial Hospital. The parents will be notified as soon as possible to give permission to the hospital for treatment. The Emergency Room will not provide treatment for any child without this permission.
Healthy Food Guidelines
The school encourages parents to choose healthy food options for their children’ s lunches. Teachers intentionally seek to provide non-food prizes as often as possible; food rewards are used sparingly.
Lunch / Snacks / Food
Students are expected to bring bagged lunches that do not require refrigeration or heating. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available for use by students. The students are to remain seated throughout the lunch period. Asking others for their lunches is not permitted( for a variety of important reasons).
Elementary students eat their lunches in a cafeteria located on the first floor. Middle school students eat in an allocated space in the gym area. High school students are expected to eat in the cafeteria. Only seniors are allowed in The Corner during lunch. On rare occasions, a student may make arrangements before lunch to meet with a teacher in his / her classroom during lunch for tutoring or instructional purposes.
Students may bring bottled water in self-sealing( no leak), non-breakable containers to class. All food not finished during lunch is to be put away at the end of the lunch period before returning to
