to anyone you may need to pick up your student.) Please show your dismissal tag to the teacher on duty when you are greeted so that we can record that we have safely dismissed your child to you.
Elementary students who remain after 3:15( 15 minutes past dismissal) will automatically be sent to“ Growing Like Christ”( GLC) and will be charged the regular daily rate. If they have never been enrolled, the parents will be required to pick up their child and complete the form in case it is needed in the future.
Secondary students( Grades 6-12) are to be dropped off directly at the McLain building on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays( and on all late openings); they are dropped off at the elementary building on Mondays and Wednesdays( using the portico entrance). At the end of the day, secondary students being picked up are dismissed at 3:05 by the back door to wait just outside the door for their rides. A teacher is on duty at this time only until 3:15. After 3:15, students in Grades 6-12 will be sent to the office to wait quietly for their parents to arrive. Please note that CCS does not have an extended day program for this age group. Parents must go to the office to sign out their students when picking up late. We understand that there are unexpected delays that occur on a very infrequent basis, which we will do our best to accommodate. This must be the exception and not the rule. When a student is repeatedly picked up late, a meeting with the parents and an administrator will be set up to discuss an alternative plan for the student’ s dismissal time. Students cannot be left unattended.
Bus Transportation
Bus transportation is provided by the Town of Manchester to those students living within the Manchester School District but who are located more than one mile from the school. Cornerstone students have a bus made available for this purpose. Electing to have one’ s child( ren) ride the bus is at the complete discretion of the parents. Only regular bus riders may take the bus to and from school. Those living beyond the town limits will need to provide their own transportation or carpool with another family. Please note that it is extremely hard to ensure children are safely on and off the bus when routines are frequently changed or when a last-minute notice is given to the office.
Please note that all concerns regarding bus transportation must be shared directly with the bus company, since it is a service provided for parents by the town. Parents may contact the school office to obtain the bus company’ s contact information.
Please note: The town of Manchester has switched to 2-hour delays when inclement weather warrants a late opening, but Cornerstone continues to use a 90-minute delay system. Students who must still ride the Manchester bus to school will be picked up according to Manchester’ s delay schedule.
