Communication Opportunities

PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATION

Regular and easily accessible parent-teacher communication is a critical component in each student’ s success at CCS. The following avenues of communication are established and strongly endorsed by the school for the benefit of all involved.

Problem-Solving

Questions and misunderstandings will inevitably arise. It is the desire of the school to handle these situations courteously, politely, and promptly. The following steps are an application of the Biblical injunction recorded in Matthew 18 for the resolution of a problem between believers:
1. The parent / teacher meets privately with the parent / teacher to seek a resolution, with a spirit of reconciliation. Both want the good of the child and are not in an adversary position. 2. If unresolved, the parent / teacher then meets with the parent / teacher and a third party, the
Head of School.
3. If still unresolved, the matter is presented to the school board chair; the school board asks individuals to submit their concern in writing to the Head of School with a request for it to be delivered to the school board chair, who will then forward the written concern. The chairperson will call upon the parties involved as seems warranted, all in the spirit of reconciliation.
4. If still unresolved, the problem is brought before the entire school board. The board calls upon the parties involved as seems warranted, still in the spirit of reconciliation. If reconciliation still does not occur, the board makes the judgment as to who is wrong and takes appropriate action.

Communication Opportunities

Effective communication is of utmost importance to us. For this reason, we are committed to using the following tools for their respective purposes. Communication, however, is only as effective as both parties enable it to be. Please be sure to stay connected in the following ways.
School App Beginning in the fall of 2025, CCS will be using ParentSquare as its primary method of communication between school and home. Parents will be able to personalize the frequency at which they receive updates from the school. Emergency notifications will also be sent through ParentSquare, and direct communication between parents and teachers will be enabled.
Student Information System( SI) Cornerstone uses Sycamore Education( an SIS) for generating and storing report card grades, high school transcripts, student schedules, and discipline logs; for scheduling parent-teacher conferences; for online re-enrollment in the spring; and more. All CCS parents( of students in Pre- K through Grade 12) and students( in Grades 6 and up) have unique usernames and passwords to access Sycamore Education.
Parents’ Sycamore accounts are also used for signing up for Parent-Teacher Conferences and reenrolling online. Please contact the office if you need help accessing your Sycamore account.
