Unexcused Absence and Late Arrival
Parents / guardians are required to explain / excuse all attendance-related concerns including absences , late arrivals and early dismissals . Parents / guardians are asked to report student absence , late arrival and / or early dismissal by 8:00 am using the attendance hotline , phone or email address . Beginning at 9:00 am , the staff in the Senior School front office will begin to contact the parents / guardians of students who are recorded as “ unexcused ” in MySchool . The process begins with contacting students in Grade 8 and then proceeds to Grade 12 to first account for the youngest students .
Late arrival
Students who arrive at school after 8:20 am must sign in at the Senior School office either in person , where they receive a late slip to enter class , or by using the QR code , where they will receive an email to show their teacher . If a student arrives at school without a note , she must have her parent / guardian contact the School or bring a note to the office as soon as possible . It is also acceptable for parents / guardians to send an email regarding a student ’ s lateness to our Senior School office .
Early or Temporary Dismissal
If a student is required to leave campus before dismissal , the School must receive a written note , an email or verbal confirmation prior to or upon departure . They must sign out at the front office either in person or by using the QR code when they are leaving .
Students who are dismissed for a portion of the day are required to sign in at the Senior School front office either in person or via the QR code . They will receive a slip or an email for re-entry into class .
Leaving the Campus
The expectation in the Senior School is that students remain on campus until they are dismissed ( following our attendance procedures ) or at the end of the school day . The exception are :
• Students whose parents / guardians have contacted the office to permit early dismissal
• Grade 12 students who may sign out during their spare or free period
• Students on school-based curricular or co-curricular excursions
• Students whose grade permits them to sign out over lunch
Illness While at School
If a student does not feel well , she should advise her teacher and request to report to the Senior School front office . If the student is unable to attend class , her parents / guardians will be contacted to arrange for transportation home . The School does not have appropriate staff or facilities to accommodate students who are unable to attend class due to illness .
Extended Absences
Our holiday and vacation schedule is generous . For this reason , the School does not encourage the extension of holidays . Extended absences for holidays can undermine a student ’ s academic progress in courses and the sense of priorities and discipline that students are developing .
Full Year
All students are expected to complete their school year according to the published school calendar . Before booking any holidays , please check the school calendar . Students who depart
