through technology or by phone . As well , thankyou notes should be circulated outside of school .

Locker Room

During the school day , the Junior School locker room is for Grade 4 to 7 student use only . This locker room is also the student change room . We ask that parents / guardians honour the privacy of the students and do not go into the locker room .
Within the locker room , students are responsible for keeping their carabiner on their locker or a combination lock in Grades 6 and 7 . Lockers should be closed with student belongings inside . Junior School students , with the exception of students in Grades 6 and 7 , do not use locks on their lockers . Girls should never bring valuables or money to school ; if for some reason this is necessary , the items or money should be left with their teacher .

Telephone & Messages

Students may use the school phone in the Junior School Main Office with the permission of their teacher . Students are discouraged from calling their parents / guardians to ask for items to be brought from home such as running shoes , homework , permission forms , etc .
Cell phones or other personal digital devices such as Apple watches and Fitbits may not be used during instructional time . They must be fully shut down between 8:00 am and 3:20 pm .
If a parent / guardian needs to connect with their daughter , please call the Main Office and we will share your message . Please note that it is difficult to call students and staff during class time . Except in an emergency , messages left in the Main Office in the morning will be conveyed by lunch ; those left in the afternoon will be conveyed by 3:00 pm . Messages will always be conveyed to students regarding changes in pick-up arrangements . In case of emergency , please contact the Main Office ; an email may not be read or answered for a period of time by teachers .
Teachers are able to answer emails until 5:00 pm on school days . If you need to contact the School with an urgent matter after 5:00 pm , always contact the director or assistant directors of the Junior School
FORGOTTEN ITEMS
We are dedicated to building young people with agency and the capacity to navigate struggle with flexibility and positivity . One way we ask parents / guardians to support us with this is to avoid rescuing your child whenever possible . For example , if your child forgets an item she needs for school , resist the urge to rescue her . When items such as a band instrument , physical education uniform or snacks are forgotten , teachers work with students to ensure they can navigate this situation with support and success . When we forget an item and have to work through this struggle or discomfort , it often increases our capacity to remember these items in the future . It is in these younger years , with the support of trusted adults in their lives , that we want to develop your daughter ’ s capacity to navigate these struggles in incremental steps .
Exceptions include items related to health , such as medicine and glasses . Please note that additional snacks and water containers are available at school for students who may forget them at home .

Assemblies

Assemblies provide significant experiences for students to gather as a community . Assemblies are opportunities to address issues such as values , community responsibility , citizenship and current events . The format of assemblies varies and may include reading stories or poems , watching videos , performing skits or presenting awards . Singing is always an important aspect of every assembly . The girls love the Grade 7 , student-directed assemblies filled with humour ,
