Technology : One-to-One Program
Technological skills are essential . Our One-to-One program ensures that all learners are comfortable using technology and have developed digital literacy skills : communication , creativity , problemsolving , collaboration and responsibility . We want students and teachers to leverage technology - anytime , anywhere - so that everyone is more involved in constructing their learning .
In a One-to-One technology strategy , a carefully selected device is issued to each student in Grades 1 to 12 . Apple iPads are provided to students in Grades 1 to 7 and in Grades 8 to 12 with Apple laptops ( MacBook ).
Who owns the devices issued to students ( iPad or Mac )? Why ?
Crofton House School is the owner of the devices issued to students . With the same device , software , and operating system , all students and teachers are provided with a predictable , consistent and streamlined teaching and learning experience . The school can also leverage its position to acquire volume and educational pricing , lowering the program ’ s overall cost while increasing the efficiency of incorporating technology into learning .
Can a student use her own personal device ?
We do not accommodate a “ Bring Your Own Device ” approach . Teaching and reinforcing technological skills are best achieved when all students have the same device model equipped with the most up-to-date , consistent and appropriately licensed software . Limiting the brand , model , and age of devices means the school can support any issue that arises with minimal downtime . Finally , the accidental protection and warranty that supports each device streamline the process of servicing and device replacement .
Are students able to take the devices off campus ?
Students in Grades 6 to 12 ( Middle and Senior Schools ) can take the device off campus . Younger students use their issued iPad on campus and under the direct supervision of teachers .
Do the students have access to the devices during holidays and vacations ?
Students in Grades 6 to 12 will have use of their devices over school ’ s annual holidays . For students returning to Crofton House School the following year , they will also have use of the computer over the summer .
