Are parents / guardians billed for the One-to- One program ?
The cost of the One-to-One is included in the annual tuition fee . There is no additional charge or separate billing to parents / guardians except for repeated damage , as outlined in the Responsible Use of Technology Agreement , or loss or theft , as outlined in the warranty .
How often are the devices replaced ?
The devices are replaced when the warranty expires ( iPads - 4 years , MacBooks - 5 years ). At that point , students are provided with a new device . The IT support department assists students in transferring documents to the new device . The 5-year warranty for the MacBooks means students entering Grade 8 will keep the device until they graduate and , provided they graduate from CHS , can take it with them at no cost once the IT Department resets the device to its factory settings .
Can a student take the device when she leaves CHS ?
Starting from the 2022 / 23 school year , students who use the same device from Grade 8 to Grade 12 , the student will be offered that computer at no extra cost and may take it with them when they graduate . This is conditional upon the IT Department resetting the device to factory settings . For all other students , the device must be returned to the school upon their departure .
Are there conditions associated with the One-to-One program ?
All parents / guardians are required to agree to uphold the Responsible Use of Technology Agreement as part of the annual enrolment process . The agreement outlines the conditions associated with the One-to-One program .
What happens if the device is defective , damaged , lost or stolen ?
The school-owned devices have a warranty that covers defects and a fixed number of damage incidents ( repair or replacement ); however , the warranty does not include coverage for loss or theft .
In the event of damage , the device warranty includes any manufacturing defect and 2 instances of accidental damage . When damaged , a letter will be sent to parents / guardians to acknowledge the damage and inform them that an instance of accidental damage has been used . More than two instances of accidental damage will require payment in full for the cost of the repair , and this will be billed to the student ’ s account .
The warranty does not cover the loss or theft of the student ’ s device . When a device is lost or stolen , a replacement unit will be given , and the student ’ s account billed for payment in full for the cost of the unit .
