• Ensure your daughter arrives at school on time each and every day
• Understand the attendance routine of each school and follow the procedures to report student late arrival , early dismissal and / or absence
• Be prepared to interrupt daily routines in the event their daughter becomes unable to attend school ( illness or accident ), or the School is unexpectedly required to close for a full or partial day due to conditions such as inclement weather
• Restrict vacation plans to vacation and holiday periods in the school calendar
• Communicate in advance and in writing to the School ’ s director any anticipated extended student absences , and be prepared to provide additional , third-party academic support for extended absences
Students
• In an age-appropriate manner , develop habits that promote “ on-time ” arrival at school
• Follow the attendance procedures established in their school ( ECE , Junior , Senior ) to the best of their ability , including those related to late arrival and early dismissal and those followed during emergency procedures
• In an age-appropriate manner , accept responsibility for completion of work missed during an absence
School Administrative Assistants
• Accurately record daily attendance status of each student
• Follow up in a timely manner with parents / guardians of students whose absence is unexplained to account for every student every day
• Monitor each student who departs early or temporarily to ensure she has parental consent
• Account for student absence during all emergency procedures
• Alert administration to any significant issues or concerns regarding student attendance ( e . g . extended absences , numerous late arrivals or student absences , patterns of illness , concussions , etc .)
School Administration
• Be transparent with parents / guardians about the attendance expectations of the School
• Provide families with the School ’ s holiday and vacation schedule in a timely manner
• Establish an attendance routine that is predictable and consistent to all members of the school community and , in the event of a change in routine , communicate the change and rationale in a timely manner
• Track student late and absent records , and contact parents / guardians in a timely manner about concerns or issues that arise
• Support families whose exceptional circumstances require extended student absences by creating , in advance , a plan to support learning that is explicit and transparent on roles , expectations and timelines
• Provide reasonable support for students whose absences are impacting academic success or ability to engage in the life of the School
• Maintain accurate attendance records of students in MySchool and on student reports , according to Ministry of Education and Child Care reporting requirements
• Alert parents / guardians to accumulating absence that may impact governmental funding and an additional fee
