Department Heads ( 8 – 12 )
Department heads oversee the scope and sequence of learning within specific disciplines ( e . g ., mathematics , English , creative arts and design technology , etc .). Parents / guardians with curriculum questions or concerns that the teacher has not successfully addressed are encouraged to contact the relevant department head .
Student Services
The Department of Student Services consists of learning strategist / resource teachers and personal counsellors in both the Junior and Senior Schools , and post-secondary counsellors for Senior School students . As students look to this group for support , so too may parents / guardians . Feel free to contact specific individuals within this department or the program coordinator with questions or concerns related to social or emotional issues , academic or learning issues , or issues related to an individual program .
Learning Resources
Learning resource ( LR ) teachers in both the Junior and Senior Schools are specially trained to support the learning needs of all students in the School . They provide information , strategies and structures to teachers to support students in their learning . For some students , these teachers oversee the development and implementation of an Individual Education Plan ( IEP ) or a School Based Support Plan ( SBSP ). Parents / guardians with questions or observations to share regarding the learning needs or challenges of their daughter / s are encouraged to bring them to the attention of the student ’ s homeroom teacher ( Junior School ) or advisor ( Senior School ). This individual will , in turn , bring it to the attention of the LR teacher . Parents / guardians whose daughter ’ s learning is supported by an IEP and who is working with one of the LR teachers may contact the teacher directly . Social and Emotional Learning and Student Wellbeing
Social and Emotional Learning and Student Wellbeing Coordinators
Social and Emotional Learning ( SEL ) and student wellbeing coordinators are present in both the Junior and Senior School , providing oversight of the development and implementation of SEL curriculum , along with creating new learning opportunities for the community . These individuals also support individual students in the areas of SEL and wellbeing in partnership with teachers , personal counsellors and families .
Personal Counsellors
Personal counsellors are present in both the Junior and Senior Schools to support the social , emotional and mental health , and overall wellbeing , of all students Parents / guardians with questions or observations of their daughter / s that may require the support of a personal counsellor are encouraged to bring them to the attention of the student ’ s homeroom teacher ( Junior School ) or advisor ( Senior School ). This individual will , in turn , bring it to the attention of Student Services . Junior School parents / guardians whose daughter is working with one of the personal counsellors may contact this individual directly , while Senior School parents / guardians should contact the Assistant Director , Student Services .
Post-Secondary Counsellors ( 8 – 12 )
The Senior School has four post-secondary counsellors who work with students to plan their academic program and support their postsecondary goals . Students receive complete and meaningful counselling to help determine the best courses for each stage of their academics , and support the post-secondary research and application process . In addition , students receive support regarding scholarship applications and summer programs .
