Ivy Compass Program
Students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 are actively engaged in learning through the Ivy Compass program . This includes outdoor education , service learning , leadership initiatives and self knowledge . Parents / guardians with questions related to the Ivy Compass program are encouraged to contact the Ivy Compass teacher in the Junior School and the coordinator or assistant coordinator in the Senior School .
Athletic Coordinators and Athletic Coaches
There are two athletic coordinators , one for Junior School ( Grade 1 – 7 ) and one for the Senior School ( Grade 8 – 12 ). The coordinators oversee all intramural , team-based , and / or competitive athletic activities . Parents / guardians with specific questions regarding the athletics program should contact the relevant athletic coordinator .
Head of School
The head of school always welcomes the opportunity to meet with individual parents / guardians to discuss various school-related topics . Often these conversations have little or nothing to do with a particular student . When a situation relates to astudent ’ s academic or social development , it is expected that the abovementioned process be followed , prior to contacting the head of school . This process has worked well , and circumventing it is neither in the student ’ s nor the School ’ s best interest . Everyone is dedicated and committed to meeting the needs of our students in a professional and caring way .
Regardless of the concern or problem , when teachers , parents / guardians and administrators work together as a team and include the student whenever possible , the well-being of our students is improved and enhanced .
Academic Administration
After trying to resolve a particular academic or social concern through the classroom teacher , homeroom teacher , advisor or individual with a specific area of oversight , parents / guardians or students are encouraged to schedule a meeting with the appropriate administrator . In the Junior School , the assistant directors and director provide careful oversight to the entire Junior School program from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7 . In the Senior School , assistant directors collaborate with the director , Senior School to provide oversight of the co-curricular program and student services .
Both the Junior and Senior School directors strive to communicate promptly and effectively with parents / guardians . They are always willing to listen to questions or concerns . Because of the close working relationships between our teachers and administration , the administration may already be aware of the particular situation . A collaborative approach sends the appropriate signal to the student that all concerned are working together for resolution .
