Grievance Policy

LAMPLIGHTERS YESHIVAH PROCEDURE FOR COMMUNICATING GRIEVANCES
If a parent has a question, concern, observation, suggestion or grievance regarding EDUCATIONAL matter she / he must:
1. Bring his concern to the Teacher of the child. In most cases, the Lead teacher is theappointed teacher in the teaching team to address parental issues.
2. If the teacher deems necessary OR if the parent is not satisfied with the way the teacher handles their grievance OR if the parent would like further clarification, THEN the next step is to bring their concerns to Moshe and Rivkah Schack, Heads of School
a. Teachers may or may not be present at this meeting as deemed appropriate by MS and RS
b. At this point, MS and RS may bring supporting data to further clarify the issue at hand
i. Yitzchok Chakiris, Behavioral Scientist, who has observable, objective data of classrooms
ii. Other members of the education team who could further elucidate the issue
3. On matters that relate to school culture, greater school policy, this particular family’ s relationship with the greater school community or the school’ s administration or the like, the Heads of School may bring in Yocheved Sidof, Executive Director, to work together to ameliorate issue or provide alternative solutions. This would happen as a group meeting with Heads of School and parent.
4. If all above protocols were followed and the parent still believes their grievance was not addressed, the parent may:
a. Present a written letter to Yocheved Sidof, Executive Director, stating grievance
i. The Executive Director, together with the rest of the school leadership, will do its due diligence and provide a ruling on the matter. The school leadership reserves the right to bring a member of the board to apprise them of the situation and act from there.
ii. Or, after review, the Exec Director may bring the grievance to the full school Board
1. The Board will do its due diligence and provide its ruling / address the issue. The decision will be informed by interviewing all related parties.
If a parent has a question, concern, observation, suggestion or grievance, regarding a matter related to OPERA- TIONS or POLICY s / he must:
1. The parent may bring their grievance to the Administrative Director
2. If the AD deems necessary OR if the parent is not satisfied with the way the AD handles their grievance OR if the parent would like further clarification, THEN the next step is to bring their concerns to Yocheved Sidof, Executive Director
a. In matters that relate to educational policy, school vision, or to particulars of a teacher’ s performance or the class culture, YS will bring in MS and RS, Heads of School, to work together to ameliorate issue or provide alternative solutions.
This would happen as a group meeting with Heads of School and parent.
3. If all above protocols were followed and the parent still believes their grievance was not addressed, the parent may:
