Snacks
For campers enrolled in full-day camps extending until 1pm or later, please remember to provide them with a nut-free snack daily. Given their activity level, campers may become hungry between lunchtime and the end of the day.
Field Trips
All trip costs have been included in your child’ s camp fee. For supervision and safety purposes, your child must wear his / her camp shirt on trip days. Staff to camper ratios will remain the same on trips as they are at the camp site. For campers entering 2nd grade and up, trips take us to destinations within an hour of Chicagoland, with bus transportation provided both ways. Younger campers( ages 4-6) enjoy shorter adventures, traveling to local spots within the Glenview / Northshore area, also with bus transportation. Specific camps who take field trips are listed in the camp guide. Some field trip locations also require additional waivers( i. e. trampoline park). All waivers must be filled out by legal guardians and will be sent home within the week of the trip.
Please note, our camp staff go through rigorous training and background checks to provide the best and safest experience for our campers. For this reason, we are unable to accommodate parent attendance on field trips. If you choose not to send your child on a particular field trip, please inform your camp director in advance. Refunds are not issued for missed trips.
Bus Guidelines
• If the bus has seat belts, campers will use them. If the bus does not have seat belts, we will continue with the trip.
• Air conditioning on buses is not guaranteed; windows will be opened for fresh air circulation.
• In case if inclement weather or a heat index over 100 ° F, long-distance field trips( over 45-60 minutes) may be adjusted or cancelled.
• Campers will remain seated while on the bus except for loading onto and unloading from the bus.
• Camp staff have cell phones on all trips in case of an unexpected emergency.
Swimming
Some of our camps will visit an outdoor pool for a mini swim lesson and open swim! Mini swim lessons are offered once per week and will be 45 minutes lead by swim instructors certified through Starfish Aquatics Institute. Campers will be divided into groups based on their swim skills. Each swimmer ranging from beginners to those on a swim team will work towards progressing and improving their skills while having fun! Camp Counselors and certified swim instructors will lead, supervise, and assist campers while they are participating in swim lessons. Following the swim lesson, campers receive open swim time.
