Abstract Resumo
Rigid ideas about the relationship between art and science, rose / fell / reborn during the span of the XVIII and XX centuries, brought with them the establishment of absurd dichotomies among both forms of the social consciousness. The purpose of Artistic research is based on technical and developmental needs identified by the practice and by the state of the artistic language of a certain period. Each technical and artistic research pattern uses a specific and different methodology for its implementation. The originality and the validation of this type of research is evident; above all is the quality of the artistic product obtained. The resources that are dedicated to the artistic research for educational purposes come from regular art schools and art organizations specifically. The experience of Eugenio Barba and the Odin Teatret, the director and his internationally recognized group of reformers, as the great theatrical tradition of humanity can be illustrated.

Olhares rígidos em torno à relação arte e ciência, nascidas / fundidas / voltadas a nascer no lapso dos séculos XVIII e XX, trouxeram consigo o estabelecimento de absurdas dicotomias entre ambas formas da consciência social. As pesquisas artísticas com fins propriamente artísticos surgem de uma necessidade de desenvolvimento técnico levantada e identificada pela prática e pelo estado da linguagem artística de um período determinado. Cada pesquisa técnico-artística supõe uma metodologia específica e diferente para sua realização. A originalidade e a validação deste tipo de pesquisas evidenciam-se, ante tudo, na qualidade do produto artístico obtido. A pesquisa artística com fins pedagógicos, por sua parte, tributa tanto a escolas regulares de arte como a organizações especificamente artísticas. Neste sentido, resulta paradigmática a experiência de Eugenio Barba e do Odin Teatret, diretor e coletivo internacionalmente reconhecidos tanto reformadores da grande tradição teatral da humanidade..
