ANDERSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE:
The historic Anderson County Courthouse is a visit-worthy architectural gem. Built in 1914 by architects Charles and Louis Page, the The Beaux Arts style courthouse, featuring Ionic columns and topped by a silver dome and statue of Lady Justice, is impressive inside and out.
If possible, visit on a weekday between 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. to view the impressive rotunda featuring a green marble circular stairway with iron railing that rises three stories from the basement floor. Accents include an impressive floor mosaic depicting the state of Texas and a decorative stained glass skylight. The courthouse is located at 1 Public Square in Palestine. ANTIQUE SHOPPING: Visitors can encounter hundreds of antique treasures awaiting discovery along three city blocks in Palestine’ s Main Street District.
