IRON SPIKE DISC GOLF COURSE: The Iron Spike is a seriously fun challenge for disc golf aficionados. Located in Greens Park, the course features nine baskets with three concrete tees per basket for a total of 27 baskets.
Located 1507 N. Conrad St. in Palestine, the Iron Spike is open from dawn to dusk. Admission is free.
ART TRACKS: Art Tracks sculptures grace the streets and parks along the historic Main Street District, where they add contrasting bright colors and modern flair. The metallic and multimedia sculptures, mostly by Texas artists, are selected by the Dogwood Arts Council for their visual interest and their ability to endure the outdoor elements. Some sculptures feature plants, flowers or figures, human or animal, while others depict abstract concepts or stories.

BACKROADS DANCEHALL & EVENT CENTER: Also located on Palestine’ s Main Street District, Backroads Dance Hall is the ideal setting to enjoy Country Western music, play pool or dance the night away. Live bands play at 9 p. m. every Saturday on a large platform stage, and karaoke is offered on Thursday and Friday nights. The open bar serves mixed drinks and ice-cold beer from kegs stored in a walk-in cooler.
Backroads also serves as a venue for the American Poolplayers Association League, hosting two pool teams and tournaments. Hours are 6 p. m. to 2 a. m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information call 903-352-9992.
CURIOUS MUSEUM: The Curious Museum is a must-see and do for families with kids of all ages. From building marble runs and balancing art sculptures to blowing giant bubbles and observing the properties of color and light through motion and touch, the museum’ s interactive exhibits teach about the intersection of art and science in a colorful, hands-on, kid-friendly environment. Check out the museum’ s summer camps, which are both instructional and fun.

DEAD CAT RANCH: Dead Cat Ranch is a ranch resort in East Texas boasting beautiful scenery and a variety of both adventurous and relaxing activities. They are located at 3775 FM 315 in Palestine. LAKE CREEK BLUEBERRY CREEK FARM: Summer is time for blueberry pickin’ in East Texas, and Lake Creek Blueberry Farm is the place to find them. Lake Creek has 8,500 blueberry shrubs on 11 acres in northern Anderson County, so every year in June and July, hundreds of families visit for the freshest, ripest and juiciest berries.

PALESTINE FARMER’ S MARKET: Palestine Farmer’ s Market, open Saturdays from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m., is a vibrant venue where entrepreneurs offer locally grown and homemade goods. Fresh eggs, meats and bakery goods, live plants, flowers and canned items such as jams, jellies, honey, cooking oils and sauces are some of the products available. Other vendors sell soaps, room fragrances, woodcrafts, pottery and other household items.
