Years ago in the mid-1990s , Doug Brown , a partner in National Paintball Supply , once asked me the question , “ Why is it that in paintball the manufacturers and industry people get more attention than the players ? I just don ’ t understand that . You don ’ t see that in any other sport , do you ?”
Looking at the above overview of the various Halls of Fame it jumps out at you that more than 86 % of those in the Paintball Hall of Fame are nonplayers continuing this weird paintball thing that the manufacturers and industry people get more attention than the players .
When I was researching for this article I knew the major sports — football , baseball and basketball-- would have a low number of non-players in their Halls of Fame . But I was surprised to find that other action sports , as is the game of paintball , the nonplayer rate of Hall of Fame inductees is even lower than the major sports . And all four that I studied had a non-player inductee rate of less than 9 %.
