And paintball ’ s non-player rate once again is 86 %.
How is this possible ? No Adam Gardner . No Andy Greenwell . No Billy Ceranski , No Marcus Davis … or Pestana , Cole , Maliszewski , Baird , or any other number of legendary players that will likely be forgotten about before their names get called . The game ’ s history is littered with legendary players and yet there are six store owners in the Hall of Fame ?
The largest sporting goods chains in the world grossing billions of dollars ( yes , billions !) do not have a single “ owner ” in any sports Hall of Fame . There is not a single racetrack owner , or basketball hoop manufacturer , or hockey stick manufacturer in any Hall of Fame . Nor are there any trade show hosts ( yes , this was an actual Paintball Hall of Fame category until this year ) in any Hall of Fame .
As I said in Part 1 of this series regarding the broken nominating process , this is a fixable issue . And this issue requires the same fix as last month ’ s issue . The Paintball Hall of Fame needs a nominating committee . The current nomination process of the new inductees nominating the new class has given us what we have now . a standout player in the 1980s but his statistics won ’ t even come close to a player from the 2020s . How does one define PHOF worthy over the decades of different game play ? How does a scenario player become PHOF worthy ? This area of paintball doesn ’ t have the stats of pro ball but there are many worthy players in scenario ball . These are hard and good questions . I will leave them to the hopeful nominating committee to figure out .
With criteria the next group who will be nominated to the Paintball Hall of Fame will feel the appropriate honor as this honor should be .

This nominating committee will need to come up with criteria as to what makes a player PHOF worthy . Andy Greenwell was
