The Paintball Hall Of Fame Is Broken ... But It Can Be Fixed ! --Part 2 of ?
If you have not read Part 1 of this series click the here ( https :// viewer . joomag . com / paintball-media-magazinejune-2023 / 0118563001686314855 / p06 ). This series builds on the previous article about the nominating process for the Paintball Hall of Fame .
This month is about the unusual number of non-players who have been inducted to the PHOF .
Paintball is different from many other sports because literally everyone in the PHOF started out as a player . Nearly everyone in our industry started out as a player . We have always been this mix of players who also run the industry .
But for the purpose of this article I am going to use the word “ player ” to refer to those that are known and have accomplished more as a player than as a member of the media , the manufacturing community , field owner , etc . I will refer to everyone else a “ non-player .”
To date there have been 52 people inducted into the Paintball Hall of Fame . Of those 52 people , 7 would fall into the category of “ player ” and 45 would be “ non-players ”.
This is a visual of the problem .
Paintball Hall of Fame 52 members , 45 non-players ( 86.5 % nonplayers )
Baseball Hall of Fame 342 members , 71 non-players ( 20.7 % nonplayers )
NFL Hall of Fame 362 members , 41 non-players ( 11.3 % nonplayers )
Zac Arbuckle , Josh Silverman & John Amodea
