I ’ ve played many team sports my whole young life and Bad Company acted , practiced and bonded like a professional sports team . All credit to Tom Cole , the team ’ s captain and founder and now President of the NXL . Tom ’ s a great leader and tonesetter . When I first made the team , I was playing sparingly on the Pro roster . Tom always played the best ten players at any given time . I saw that and joined a gym , hired a personal trainer and worked hard to make the Pro roster , which I did .
But Bad Company shaped me more as a person than a player even . Even though I was already publishing a magazine at that time , being a player on a top Pro team opened a lot of doors of opportunity . I got to see the inner working of a Pro team , the Pro leagues and how the business end of Pro paintball works . That really helped me understand the game more , which helped shape me and the magazine . I had already been a field owner , a scenario general and regular serious player , but playing on that level teaches you some things .
gratifying . At that time there were thousands of teams in the world and literally only 4 or 5 of them had a chance to beat us on any given Saturday or Sunday . And making a living doing what I love so much is a literal 24 / 7 emotional high . Also , being one of the early players and publishers is an incredible feeling . To know that in some way I have helped shape this game for 40 years is crazy . There aren ’ t many people that played paintball 40 years ago and never left the game for a single day in this world . I ’ m blessed to be one of them .
