• June 27 , 1981 : The First Game Of Survival , Now Called Paintball , Is Played
The players , family members and friends , along with Head Judge , Mike Macklin and four Quadrant Judges arrive at the playing field in Henniker , NH . The game starts at 10 a . m . sharp . Ritchie White was able to maneuver around the 80- acre playing field without being shot at or even seen for two and a half hours . White gathered all of the necessary flags for the win without ever firing a single shot . Ken Barret was the first player eliminated .
• November 1 , 1981 : The National Survival Game ( NSG ) is formed Bob Gurnsey sees the potential of this new game . His ski shop in New London ,
New Hampshire is failing . Noel and Gaines lend Gurnsey enough money to start the first survival company , The National Survival Game , and they pay him around $ 175 per week to run the day to day operations . The three were partners for several years .
• November 14 , 1981 : The Second Game Ever Played and Later That Afternoon The First Team Game Is Played
Gaines , Noel and Gurnsey fly to Camden in Wilcox County , Alabama where Ronnie Simpkins , one of the first game players , hosted the second game . This was another multi-flag individual game , this time with 18 players . John Clyde Riggs won the game after gather all four flags . Later in the afternoon the first team game was played at the suggestion of Bob Gurnsey . www . paintball . media
