HAZWOPER 24-hour Hazardous Materials Technician HANDS ON Designed for personnel who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release. They assume a more aggressive role and will approach the point of release in order to stop the release of a hazardous substance. Topics can include: emergency response plans; classification, identification, and verification of materials; the Incident Command System; PPE; hazard and risk assessment; advanced control, containment, and confinement methods; decontamination; termination; and, basic haz-mat chemistry and toxicology. This annual training is required within one year of the initial certification. This course discusses and reviews changes in Federal and State regulations as well as relevant, upcoming legislation. In addition, developments in state-of-the-art practices and technologies, as well as key aspects from the initial training are discussed. After completion of this course, participants will have their certification extended for an additional year.
