Hazardous Waste Management This course is designed for generators of hazardous waste and their employees (including handlers, accumulation point managers, satellite accumulation point managers, etc.). Topics include: local, state, and federal regulations, responsibility and liability, hazardous waste identification and classification, universal waste, hazardous waste characteristics, permits and licenses, storage and handling, transportation, source reduction and waste management, employee information and training, preparedness and prevention, emergency procedures, and recordkeeping and reports. This annual training is required within one year of the initial certification. Topics covered in the course include: basic hazard and risk assessment techniques; selection and use of proper personal protective equipment; hazardous material terms; control, containment, and confinement operations; decontamination procedures; the incident command system; toxicology; and, pre-event and event specific planning.
