EM 385-1-1 This course is for contractors, military and government employees who enforce or must comply to the EM 385-11 US Army Corps of Engineers safety and health requirements. You will learn procedures of the US Navy, NAVFAC, US Army Corps of Engineers, and other government agencies that require EM 385 training. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an EM 385 Certificate and an OSHA 30-Hour Card for Construction from our OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor. Attendees also receive a copy of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety Health Requirements Manual. It satisfies the Cal/OSHA and Federal OSHA requirements for training of individuals who have to use fall protection equipment. This course demonstrates how to setup an anchor point and lifelines on a roof, how to inspect harnesses, and overview of fall arrest systems. Students are encouraged to bring their fall protection equipment for inspection and handson training. Through this course, the use of lecture, videos, and demonstration assist the student in preparation of assuming the role of Competent Person as specified by OSHA 1926 and 1910, and ANSI A10, A14, and Z359 regulations. Topics include: Federal and Cal/OSHA construction safety standards; Principles of fall protection; Hazard recognition & abatement; OSHA’s standard fall protection systems; and Acceptable fall protection for specially defined situations. This training also includes hands-on practice with harnesses and proper techniques for tying off. Individuals attending this course must bring the fall protection equipment they use in their workplace for training and inspection.
