NAVFAC NORTHWEST – BUILDING 2001 CHILLER # 2 REPLACEMENT Cx | NAVAL BASE KITSAP
Bangor, WA
P2S Cx is providing design-phase commissioning services for the replacement of the existing Chiller # 2 at Building 2001 at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor. The project includes replacement of the existing 500-ton centrifugal watercooled chiller with a new 600-ton magnetic bearing, oil-less water-cooled chiller, along with the associated chilled water pump. The scope also includes design for replacement of Cooling Towers # 1 and # 2 and associated pumps, with a focus on redundancy, energy efficiency, water efficiency, reliability, and long-term operational performance.
The new equipment will be designed to communicate with the modern supervisory building digital control system and integrate with the facility’ s BACnet Building Management System.
P2S’ s commissioning role also supports the project’ s quality goals by helping identify coordination issues early, documenting commissioning expectations in the design package, and aligning the final design with federal criteria, UFC requirements, and NAVFAC commissioning standards.
As part of the commissioning scope, P2S will provide qualified commissioning support separate from the design team, including design reviews, development of the Design Phase Commissioning Plan, and Division 01 commissioning specifications. Commissioning activities will help verify that the new chiller, heat rejection systems, pumps, controls, and related support systems are properly planned for mechanical, electrical, communicative, seismic, energy, and operational integration.
