USACE SCHAFER DAM HEADQUARTERS BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE SHOP

P2S Cx is providing commissioning services for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ R. L. Schafer Dam project in Porterville, California. The project includes construction of a new single-story 9,950 SF headquarters building, storage shed, vehicle shed, related site work for a future maintenance shop, and the design and installation of a new well and pumphouse to serve the new facilities. The dam, previously known as Success Dam, was constructed in 1961 and has prevented an estimated total of $ 200 million in property damage and reduced flood risk for a population of more than 76,000 people.
The P2S commissioning scope includes lead commissioning services, as well as mechanical, electrical, and building enclosure Cx. Systems to be commissioned include HVAC and refrigeration systems, the Building Automation System, interior and exterior lighting controls, emergency power lighting, water pumping and mixing systems, irrigation systems, compressed air systems, and the building envelope. P2S will also review and verify contractorprovided testing documentation for utility monitoring and controls, power distribution, power generation, and energy and water metering systems. Building enclosure commissioning will address moisture control, thermal integrity, and air tightness across walls, fenestration, roofing, roof openings, floors, below-grade perimeter walls, crawlspaces, slabs-on-grade, and floor assemblies.
