Abaseline of essential emergency management skills was established at a District level across such wide-ranging disciplines as Incident Command ; emergency , operational , and homeland security planning ; FEMA professional development ; exercise design ; and other important , selected courses of study . The baseline of fundamental skills in Emergency Management was made available on the D1SR website and shared as part of the District 1 South Emergency Management Training Guide .
The overall goal of the D1SR Emergency Management department is to fully implement a comprehensive incident management program in conjunction with the needs and requirements of our active duty counterparts in the U . S . Coast Guard . Such a goal partly entails aligning the training , experience , and qualification standards for D1SR Emergency Management team members with the credentialing process of the U . S . Coast Guard in order to effectively and properly support the Gold Side in responding to disasters and catastrophic events .
Thus far , the D1SR Emergency Management team has been engaged in a wide array of Auxiliary projects under the command of District Commodore Mark Stone , each focused on enhancing the preparedness and response posture of the District . Such projects have included employing the proper use of the Incident Command System ( ICS ) for pre-planned major events ; supporting the Bethpage ( Jones Beach , NY ) Air Show ( 2021 ) with an Auxiliary Event / Incident Action Plan ; engaging in tabletop exercises ( TTX ) in preparation for large-scale incidents ; compiling regular Spot
