Semper Paratus
Boot Camp is tough and demanding of every recruit. They quickly learn that every second they waste, is a second they could have saved a life. They learn the meaning of Semper Paratus. At his graduation, Barb learned that since she was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, she would be able to present Joe with his certificate. She was honored and a bit teary-eyed to welcome him into the Coast Guard family.
His first duty station was the USCGC Aspen stationed in California. He served one year on the USCGC Aspen . The CGC Aspen is a seagoing buoy tender with her primary mission being the servicing of aids-to navigation buoys in her area of responsibility. Other missions include maritime law enforcement, homeland security, ensuring the security of ports and waterways, maritime environmental response, as well as search and rescue duties.
