where you have any input in
gear design?
JE: I’m always trying to have the
best gear I can have. Adidas and
Crab Grab have both been open
to ideas that I’ve had and have
worked together to make a better
product that can stand up against
the harsh NW weather.
OOM: What is the Jared Elston
diet like?
JE: I actually used to eat super
shitty for a long time, but that
was because as a kid I was a
crazy picky eater. The thing that
broke that pickyness was being
on snowboard trips and trying
new foods so you don’t look
weird in front of your peers. Now
I feel that I eat pretty healthy, I try
to eat plant based as much as
I can. Getting older you start to
realize that you need to put good
food in your stomach if you want
your body to be running strong.
You get out what you put in you
know.

OOM: Who is influencing your
riding now? Who are some of
the upcoming riders in Oregon
and around the globe who get
you stoked?
JE: I think riders like Arthur Longo
and Jake Blauvelt are definitely
influencing my riding. They just
have that precise, tactical riding
that is so impressive to watch. And
of course all my friends are super
inspiring to watch do their thing.
All the Bachelor groms are fun to
watch, Elijah Pyle is always getting
better too.
OOM: At Outdoor we rarely get
into politics. We are more about
the fun of the outdoor world.
There is enough bad in the world,
so we focus on the good things
that unite us rather than divide us.
BUT, I read something where you
took a strong political position.
Are you ever worried that taking a
strong political stance might piss
off some friends?
JE: I’m not worried about piss-
ing someone off for saying “Fuck
Trump”. He’s a goon and, to me,
you’re just ignorant if you think
otherwise. I think it’s super whack
if someone with a voice and plat-
form won’t speak up for what they
believe in because they’re worried
about making someone upset.
OOM: Is there anybody you want
to thank? Or give shouts out to?
JE: Friends, family, sponsors, you
know the drill.
