Heart and vascular symposiums Clinical teams including physicians on the medical staff or in the community are offered various continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education unit (CEU) opportunities. CME and CEU events related to heart and vascular topics are abundant with often more than 250 attendees at a single event. Specific to clinical teams, the annual Heart and Vascular Symposium coordinated by the clinical leadership of Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital is attended by interested clinicians from around the state. This past year’s event featured physicians on the medical staff as well as specialized nurses and technicians who shared their expertise and insight on current trends in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular-related illnesses. Monthly educational conferences In addition to the regional continuing education programs, there are monthly events on the Baylor Dallas campus. These include: • Cardiology Grand Rounds • Cath Conference • Echo Conference • Vascular Surgery Conference • High-Risk Cardiac Surgery Meeting Attendees (FY19) Clinical research, interesting case studies or timely topics within the various specialties are presented by the medical staff, visiting experts or fellows training in the respective fellowship programs. Baylor Scott & White CV Best Care Conference The Baylor Scott & White Health Cardiovascular Governance Council hosted the annual Cardiovascular Best Care Conference to align physician leaders with cardiovascular operational leaders to identify and develop strategic quality goals for the upcoming year. This conference provides important senior leadership updates to keep clinical leaders up- to-date on how the rapidly changing healthcare environment affects them. The event serves as a system networking opportunity that helps align and share best practices across multiple sites. Annual Williamsburg Conference on Heart Disease Founded by William C. Roberts, MD, MACC, Executive Director – Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Institute, the Williamsburg Conference on Heart Disease began while Dr. Roberts was at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Cardiology specialists from across the country attend the conference each year in Virginia. Dr. Roberts’ interest in educating his colleagues and students about heart disease continued in fiscal year 2019. The program, held in December, featured a distinguished faculty of nationally and internationally recognized experts in cardiac disease.
