The founder of this Brown County village received a land grant from President Millard Fillmore in 1851 and migrated from the hills of southern Ohio. He and his children built many of the town’ s structures using wood from the surrounding forests. Named after its founder, the place became a prosperous hub for nearby farmers providing stores for supplies, blacksmithing, a slaughterhouse, a sawmill, and a grain mill. There was even a Studebaker buggy factory for a short time in the 1920s. A church, post office, and school house anchored the community. What village is it?
The answer to last issue’ s mystery was the Civilian Conservation Corps( CCC).
