- Adjust to the space available in the streets , preferably gaining space on the roadway . - On sidewalks , ensure that there is sufficient space for pedestrians . If this is not the case , clearly mark sidewalks as shared pedestrian-bicycle sidewalks with preference for pedestrians . - In narrow streets ( historic centers ), promote with the city council the conversion of streets into bicycle lanes . - At traffic circles , the bicycle lane must complete a full circle . - Cycle paths in urban areas shall , with few exceptions , be paved . - The removal of trees should be avoided . - The projects must contemplate the restoration of vegetation . They must be provided with an irrigation network . - The design should seek to make subsequent maintenance easy and economical .
