asked us to fix the dates for exams which were common for private colleges as well. Hence, all the private colleges students used to come to us, requesting for their convenient dates. As OUCE union President I was not only representing OUCE but also other engineering colleges. In the whole process, I got good exposure which I never had before.
Life after stepping out of Osmania: Subsequently, I prepared for GRE and GMAT. During our times, half the students went to USA for Studies. One fourth stayed back. I went to USA as mechanical engineering student, then realized the future potential and changed to computer science course. I did my Masters in 1982-84 at CT university of New York. Very few universities in USA used to recognize Osmania University. I came back to India after my education.
I went to USA for studies and came back. I joined my father’ s profession in a consultancy firm where my father was working, after his retirement from APSEB. The consultancy company was based out of Delhi, but I used to work in its Hyderabad branch office. I used to take care of business from power plants in Kothagudem, Vijaywada and Ramagundam. After working for 10 years, I shifted to LANCO, where we established power division in 1995. In 2006, I started my entrepreneurial journey with MALAXMI Group and established many projects along with partners. Malaxmi Group is now into Power, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Construction. We are also starting venturing into real estate projects now. I started as an employee and slowly turned into an entrepreneur. Now Malaxmi has its offices in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Delhi and Uganda. We are in the process of establishing a Singapore based Holding Company.
Contributions to Society: I started the Culture Center of Vijaywada & Amaravathi, basically to take active part in Art, Culture and Literature. We have incorporated Malaxmi Foundation, as a CSR venture, which caters to Education, Sports & Games. We also provide scholarship for bright students and organize lectures at Institute of Engineers every year in the name of my father( Mr. Ramulu) and we also sponsor Sportsmen in various games and tournaments. Being passionate for education, I personally give lectures in 10 to 15 Engineering Colleges every year to educate and motivate teachers and students. I do come regularly to our department at OUCE and talk to the students.
I also worked as Chairman of the Confederation of the Indian Industries, for its Andhra Pradesh Chapter. I was advisory Board Member for many Engineering Colleges and was also on the board of State Bank School. I was Founder Member of 10 K run Foundation, Hyderabad.
I imbibed all these leadership qualities and speaking abilities at OUCE.
