hoped that our existing model should be altered to adopt such practices for a greater benefit .
He explained how ultrasound is the most applied imaging device after X-Ray and various advantages it has over other imaging devices . He spoke of its wide range of applications including preventive health care , diagnostics etc . and pointed out that today , ultrasound contributes to most of revenue of other departments in the hospital , as well . He mentioned about the financial statistics of ultrasound technologies that make it an attractive option .
Alumni Talk # 3 J . N Reddy
Dr J . N Reddy is the alumnus of OUCE ( Mechanical ), graduated in the year 1968 . He is a distinguished professor , author of number of journal papers and books on energy principles , finite element method and its application and many more topics . He is also internationally recognised for his research on mechanics of composite material . He developed many concepts which are used in commercial software like ABACAS , HYPERSA , NSO . He received many awards in the field of engineering .
He also spoke about various new applications of ultrasound and considers ultrasound mammography as a potential application , among others . He pointed out that 7 out of 10 women in our country are not being diagnosed with breast tumors due to the lack of proper screening facilities , but in more advanced countries with such facilities , this is hardly 1 out of 10 .
He explained how the technology has evolved in Radiology . He observed that the investments in diagnostic labs have gone up significantly . He emphasized on building value products instead of low cost engineering products which seems to be the common objective of incubation centers . He informed how the ultrasound manufacturing vendors have shifted their centers from India to China . He also explained the reason behind his choice of becoming a consultant , as he could define his own work boundaries , style and timings . Mr . Sridhar explained various components of a typical ultrasound device . He showcased the areas of improvement . He concluded his talk with a demonstration of ultra sound equipment .
Mr . Sridhar has definitely enlightened the young minds of OUCE students with the various opportunities in the field , gave them a good view of how things work in the industry , and also guided them to take informed career decisions .
In the words of Dr . D . Vijay Kumar ( General Secretary , OUCEAA ), the core objective of alumni talks was to inspire the students , share the experience and passion of alums who are experts in their field of study . He also thanked J . N Reddy for his presence .
