Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy December 2013 | Page 9

The Geography department, along with some of its outstanding students, has planted some trees in the academy grounds. The event was part of the Woodland Trust's 'Big Tree Plant' and staff and students planted 30 trees in total.

The trees included Cherry

and Silver Birch and, amongst

other benefits, will go towards

reducing the academy's carbon

footprint. Students and staff

enjoyed the experience and the

Geography team is looking into

securing around 100 more trees

for future planting.
